Dr. Bali Lee

Works at the intersection of research, science communications & strategic development. Leads Carbon at Risk, a bridge-building initiative that emerged from her work at Rethinking Removals, bringing together insurers, project developers, and academics to work on permanence in carbon removal. Directs climate adaptation research at Gulre, an indigenous-led science & art platform.

Holds a PhD in Neuroscience and Molecular Biology from the University of Manchester, and previously co-founded a neurotech start-up.

Prof. Ben Groom

Dragon Capital Chair in Biodiversity Economics, University of Exeter

An applied biodiversity and climate change economist who focuses on the value of avoiding climate and ecosystem damages. This research agenda tries to shift policy and guidance on climate change and biodiversity conservation. At CaR, Ben oversees pathway-level risk modelling and plays a central role in translating the framework's findings for scientific and policy audiences.

Prof. Frank Venmans

Scientific research spans integrated assessment modelling, carbon markets, discounting, and policy evaluation. President of the Walloon Expert Committee on Climate, where he advises the regional government on its 2030 emissions reduction targets. At CaR, Frank leads portfolio-level risk modelling,

Deputy Research Director,  Grantham Institute (LSE)

PhD in Public Affairs at Princeton University, with research spanning environmental economics, climate impacts, econometrics, and quantitative methods. Previously a pre-doctoral fellow at the University of Chicago and an economist at the UK energy regulator Ofgem. At CaR, Tom leads the quantitative modelling of pathway-level carbon storage risk.
